Redland Rejuvenation

This garden in Redland, Bristol was in desperate need of an overhaul. The old timber retaining wall was rotten as was the raised decking and the borders had gone rampant. The timber wall was ripped out and replaced, the decking was removed and replaced with a new patio and stone bench. The borders were cleared and replanted with a stylish selection of plants for year round interest breathing new life into this lovely outdoor space.

Before and After:

The Folly Border

This project started with the complete clearance of the overgrown site. A thorough dose of soil improvement and the felling of a large diseased Horse Chestnut tree cleared the way for our design to be implemented. With the sweeping curved path ways, the traditional stone benches nestle among luscious planting. The site here is quite shaded so between the bold, clipped Buxus balls, a vast array of ferns are used to create a tapestry of foliage from which many seasonal delights emerge from Helebores and Primroses, to Dicentra, Peonies, Astrantias and Japanese Anemones. A tranquil space and a plant lovers paradise!

Clifton Landscaping

Our clients were renovating and restoring a beautiful Georgian townhouse in Clifton and required the disused and ugly communal front garden area turned into something befitting of the property. First our tree surgeons cleared the existing shrubs and hedge. Then our groundworks team completely cleared and leveled the area with a digger. Next came the creation of the low maintenance mixed shrub borders and the new evergreen hedge to eventually screen the unsightly rooftop view. A selection of flowering cherry trees were planted before finally laying the green carpet of turf. A total transformation which our maintenance team now care for to the highest standards

After and Before:

Design and Build

This garden consisted of a square lawn with three shallow borders around the sides. The client brief was to come up with a design that made the most out of the space available, including dining areas and vegetable beds whilst retaining as much lawn as possible. We suggested the reclaimed brick edged circular lawn to maximise the feeling of space whilst increasing the planting space in the corners of the garden. A natural slate patio, timber raised vegetable beds made from recycled scaffold boards, a screened off compost area and even a small timber deck to catch the last evening sun were all expertly placed in this small but perfectly formed garden.

Restoring an Overgrown Garden

This garden had fallen into complete disrepair after many years of neglect. A large site that we literally had to cut our way in with strimmers and hedgecutters to gain access! However after a mammoth effort from a five man team we discovered a garden beneath the wilderness. Take a look at the before and after photos and the huge pile of waste we created…

Before and After:

Fence Replacement

An old panel fence was literally falling apart in this clients garden. A simple and long lasting solution was to replace it with a featheredge fence, hand constructed by The Gardeners of course!

Before and After:

Car Park Border

In a visitors car park an unruly and rather untidy shrub border was replaced with a stylish new planting scheme where scent was a key ingredient. Six highly fragranced roses are planted amongst evergreen shrubs with Alliums, Astrantias, grasses and Verbena all chosen for colour and height. The entire scheme is then wrapped in a beautifully scented Lavender hedge.

Hot Border

The theme for this new herbaceous border was all things hot! A planting plan was composed using a strict colour palette of reds, yellows and oranges. This is the classic summer border which comes into flower in May and lasts well into the autumn. Ornamental grasses add texture and movement as well as winter interest, and to continue the hot theme even in the winter, brightly coloured Cornus (dogwoods) light up the rear of the border.

After and Before:

Replacement Fence

Our client wanted the existing decaying board-rail fence replaced like for like. This was to ensure the spectacular views accross from the garden were maintained and also so that climbing plants could be trained along its length. A heavy duty retaining board was installed along the bottom of the fence to retain the soil from dropping away down the steep cliff.

Front Garden Planting

Our clients wanted a change of scenery from the out of their front window, and for when they pulled up on their driveway. A border that was often filled with weeds was quickly transformed into an attractive mixed border, with a selection of plants for year round interest.

After and Before:

Fence construction and Leylandii removal

Our clients had recently moved into this property and inherited its giant Leylandii trees which towered over the garden. We were called in to remove all twenty seven of the conifers and replace them with a featheredge fence along the boundary. The feel of the garden was transformed as the light literally came flooding in.
